WHO WE ARE

Andrea Lia and AL CUSTOM

In 1991 Andrea Lia completes his degree in engineering with a thesis on carbon fiber which obtains the highest of scores. In 1997 he sets two European fishing records and wins the IGFA International Contest. In 2000 he open a fishing center in Porto Cervo; he is the first captain to professionally operate in the Costa Smeralda. One of the most titled reporters and captains of Europe, he is a permanent editor for the main fishing magazines and on TV channels in Italy, France, and Spain. In 2004 he decides to blend the profession of engineer with the fifteen years of experience at sea. The AL CUSTOM project takes shape: to produce the best open sport-fisherman ever built. He entrusts the engineering of the hulls to the American Lou Codega, who engineered the Destriero, the boat that holds the world record in the crossing of the Atlantic Ocean, and the most admired fisherman hulls in the United States. Pursuing a road of no compromise, he purchases a share of Teconresine, unquestioned leading boatyard of performance boats boasting eleven world titles in the last fifteen years in the J24 sailing class. Skills and know-how are combined, a new warehouse is built, new technologies are acquired. The mission is to continue to engineer with an eye to the future. Meanwhile at sea, the AL CUSTOMs repeatedly put on power displays, leaving the group inexorably behind, before everyone's eyes, in tournaments, when the going gets rough.
This was only the beginning, only a fragment of what lies “behind.”
Up front there's a brand which sparks dreams.
